Vintages in Portugal
The Portuguese vineyard is one of the oldest in Europe. Following the Anglo-French conflict (17th century), this sector experienced a major boom. Indeed, this war caused a blockade of French ports and the impossibility to export wine from France, hence the attraction of English for wines of Portugal. It was also at that time two traders English discovered by chance that a wine happened to be added to alcohol (mutage). This wine is a great success in England: Port was born. Besides Porto, Portugal offers very good red and white wines from Beiras, Dao and Alentejo regions.
