Vintages in Italy
Italy is today, with 46.8 million hectoliters, of which 21% around designations of origin, the 2nd largest producer, just behind France (47.3 million hl). It exports about 18 million hl per year. Its main importers are European Union (Germany, France and United Kingdom) and USA. The wines of Piedmont and Tuscany are among the most famous. Super Tuscan (Sangiovese and blends of Cabernet, Merlot ...) are the top of Italian vineyards, several regions of Tuscany are formidable competitors against Bordeaux's best wines ... There are more products of the peninsula regularly winning international competitions and classified at the top of the hierarchy of the great wines of the world. These last years, for example, several Brunello di Montalcino have been designated "best wines of the world" by the famous Wine Spectator magazine in which the last was in 2006 Brunello di Property of Montalcino Casanova di Neri, Tenuta Nuova, 2001.
