With a warm oceanic climate and a land rich in sandstone, granite, shale and clay, wines of South Africa are in good place among the world's wines. 8th largest producer and exporter of wine, the vineyard is small, equivalent surface Bordeaux (120 000 ha). It is mainly planted with Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage (a hybrid of Cinsault and Pinot noir).
